Yara was born and raised in East San Jose, California. From an extremely early age, she exercised her gift for storytelling. All throughout her childhood, she and her friends would re-enact and record commercials and television shows, at her direction. Eventually she got a hold of a camcorder and the rest is history.
After graduating high school, she attended San Jose City College, majoring in Theater Arts. But then in 2008, she decided to just go for it! She moved to Los Angeles to work as an actor. She studied her craft at PlayHouse West and various studios. She was mentored by Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum.
She then started working behind the scenes on multiple film sets. Her experience includes script supervisor, 1st AD, and director of over 100 episodes of an Emmy Nominated internet soap opera. Over the years she became a self taught screenwriter.
At last, she was finally able to produce her writer/directorial debut entitled “DEMISE.” She pulled herself up by her bootstraps with all of the odds against her. “DEMISE” has been distributed by Gravitas Ventures in North America and was released on major streaming platforms in 2024. Currently, the film is having an international release and is doing quite well.
The film has gained national and international attention which is no easy feat for a directorial debut. Currently, Yara is working on getting her Holiday rom-com made, entitled “Merrily We Go.”
